I think that the beach is drastically decreasing and it is a huge problem in so many ways.  One of the ways of why it is a problem is because the houses that are on it are going to get damaged by the ocean and have to be moved.

  1. I remember when I was little how big the beach was infront of our cottage. We used to play football along the width of the beach when it was big, but now you can fish off our back deck. This is very sad to me because it is making the beaches more crowded because people do not have much room on the beach anymore. This has affected my life alot because we had to sell our beach cottage because of erosion. It was becoming to expensive to repair the exterior of the house every time there was a storm.

  2. Since the shorelines are decreasing dramitically the houses are going to start getting damaged from no support from the land. The people who live in those house will have to find somemore else to live and if the houses end up collapsing, there will be even more trash on and in the Earth.

  3. It is very sad to me that Nags Head beach is slowly getting smaller. I love that beach and it's the one that I always go to. If it keeps decreasing, it will have many negative effects. If the beach get smaller and more crowded, it will definitly affect tourist levels. Not as many people would want to come to that beach. Also, it can damage many people's houses and take them. We need to be careful to preserve the beach because I know I want to take my children to Nags Head one day, but if it keeps being damaged and decreasing, we might not be able to do that.

  4. When I look at the beach in Nags Head i feel very sad. One of the best things about North Carolina is the famous Outer Banks. As the shoreline decreases, great memories are slowly drifting under the water. For Kellen to remember where she played football, she must now go in the water. My family loves Nags Head, and we visit there as often as possible. I am fearful of what I may find 30 years from now when I bring my children to the beach.

  5. Everytime I go to the beach it seems as though people is taking truckloads away. There is hardly any beach left in my eyes. As soon as you step onto the sand, you are in the water after about 10 steps.

  6. The beach is decreasing in size every year! I absolutely love the beach. Just like Kellen, I remember the beach being so big but now you have to fight for a spot on the beach. The size of the beach decreasing is going to cause harm to the cottages near the beach. The people will probably move further away from the beach. The cost of the cottages would probably go down though. If the Nags Head beach decreased so much that it was unusable, I would be very sad because that is the beach I grew up going to.

  7. I believe that the Nags Head Beach is a problem that the state governments need to fund for repairs. Erosion is wearing down beach fronts, destroying houses, and decreasing property sizes. There is a similar incident happening in Virginia Beach where funding was raised to add more sand to the beach front.

  8. Honestly, I have never been to the beach. I didn't know Nags Head was experiencing a decrease as such. The beach has become smaller making trips to the outer banks less enjoyable. Normally everyone goes to Nags Head (except for me) during the summer. So if there's not enough room then what? That's a question that we should ask ourselves. To me, this will send more and more people away and cause them to be less attracted to Nags Head beach.

  9. I think the decreasing of beaches is really bad. When there are hurricanes, the cottages on the ocean front are in more danger. plus, I love sitting on the beach, and it might become to crowded. Every time I go, it seems like it's gotten a lot smaller, and it's quite sad.

  10. In the Just the 4 years that I have lived here I have seen a drastic decrease in the beaches. Houses on the beach front are in more danger when hurricanes or other storms hit because thier is less beach to stop the water from reaching the houses so the result is more houses getting damaged. I think that this is a pretty big deal.

  11. Decreasing of the beach is a very big problem. Houses right on the beach are in danger from being closr and closer the the shore.

  12. This decreasing in the shores can be dangerous in many ways. When a shore line recedes flooding during storms are at a higher risk. It not only destroys a scenic beach, but also it could hurt many people and their homes.

  13. The decreasing shorelines at OBX are caused by weathering. This is very bad because in 100 years there might not even be a beach there. We need to add sand or do something to stop or slow down this process.
